Bridgeport

It wasn’t exactly a great day for baseball. It was also a weeknight game so there was not a big crowd which made going to the concession stands and getting around the stadium pretty easy. Even though there weren’t too many fans, and some were even there rooting against the White Sox, there were still a few thousand fans that attended and I had to wonder what could possess that amount of people to go to a Tuesday night game in the rain for a team that is having a historically bad season. Was it the $5 food and drink promotion? Was it boredom? Was it loyalty to their team? And even if it was, how far will fans go to prove loyalty?

Whatever everyone else’s reason for being there was, my main reason was the promotion and the opportunity to see one of the last games of the season. Tonight, a lot of Sox fans were hoping for a loss just to say that they attended the game where the Sox set a record for the most at-home losses in a season and for a while, it looked like they would set that record. But in the last two innings, the Sox had a few good hits, the Angels had one bad mistake, and the Sox took and kept the lead until the end. Despite some fans' disappointment, Marco and I were happy to see a win.
