Even though Marco grew up here and I’ve lived here seven years, there are a handful of touristy things that one or the other of us have not done. Marco hasn’t been to the top of the Sears Tower and I haven’t been to the top of the John Hancock. I’ve never been on the Navy Pier ferris wheel. It’s been years since either of us went to the Field Museum or Museum of Science and Industry. Admittedly, both of us have been on boating architecture tours, but I like them so much that I might just throw that in the mix. We often discuss a “tourist day”, or maybe a whole weekend at this point, when we do all these stereotypical activities for visitors. It’s a great thought until you consider the expense.

Luckily I’m not ashamed to commit and buy a city pass, because deep down, I’ll always be a tourist at heart… and a cheapskate.
