Woodhaven Lakes
As much as I love the city, it is nice to get out every once and a while, especially when you’re used to summers spent surrounded by corn fields and cookouts. And yes, it does feel too soon in this blog series to say that I enjoy leaving the city considering it is supposed to be very Chicago-centric, but this really is the first time all summer that I’ve left.
On the other hand, my time away also reminds me of how many bugs there are and how humid it can get around plants and nature. Additionally, every single time I leave the city and have to drive or even ride in a car at night, I’m shocked by how dark it is on the interstates. I always wonder how I used to drive around in this pitch blackness as a 15-18 year-old. It feels like every time I leave, I realize how accustomed to city life I’ve become and it makes me wonder if I was always a city person or if I became one once I moved.
