10 E Grand Parking Garage
I’m not sure if downtown is so busy because it’s a holiday weekend or if it’s always this busy on a Sunday. Either way, walking south toward the river, I realize that the sidewalks are crowded with tourists.
I can’t be too negative towards tourists considering that I work in the hospitality industry and the fact that I still actively take pictures of the city and the skyline even though I’ve lived here six years, but I have to admit that it’s a whole lot more pleasant to walk around our neighborhood in the off seasons. In Chicago, basically every season except summer is considered the off season. If Marco and I wouldn’t have had to get something from the car, and if we wouldn’t have had to park in a garage three blocks south of our apartment for the month, I would have avoided this area entirely and walked north toward the residential streets. The neighborhood just north of our apartment on the other side of Chicago Avenue has actually become one of my favorite walking spots since moving downtown.
But for now, I’ll enjoy the hustle and bustle of the busy sidewalks. After all, I’m betting that by the end of October, they’ll be pretty empty.
