Welles Park

There’s something so exciting about seeing your friends’ new apartments for the first time. Besides the luxury of having a new place to hang out without any of the dreaded hassles of moving, I enjoy the excuse to explore a new neighborhood and parts of the city that I may not know as well. So while tonight showed me that I don’t know Lincoln Square very much, the bike ride home showed me that I do have fond memories connected to many of the places that I passed along the way.
I passed restaurants that I’ve visited with friends, old roommates, old coworkers, and my boyfriend, bars where coworkers held birthday parties, a diner where my friend and her friend ate our first meal of 2018 on New Year’s Eve, the park where that same friend and I used to share our nightly joints and talk nonsense, and dozens of places I’ve passed on a walk.
While the city is huge and I know I’ll never be able to do and see everything, it’s nice to be reminded that I’ve made my own little mark and memories here in the past 8 years.
