The corner of Huron Street and Sedgwick Street

Tonight was how I always hope my walks make me feel. Firstly, because the weather was incredibly pleasant, but each new song that played in my headphones had me picturing a new dance in my head. I could see myself shopping in every store, eating in every restaurant, living in every apartment that I passed. It was a lot like that scene in The Great Gatsby (the book and the movie) when Nick gets drunk for the first time in a hotel room in Manhattan and looks out the window at all the other lit windows and says something about the unlimited variation of life and opportunity in the city.

This feeling about the city can be really overwhelming at times and even though it can feel so naive to believe it, I still love to embrace it whenever I can.

P.S. The quote from The Great Gatsby that I was thinking of is this:

“I was within and without, simultaneously enchanted and repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life.”
