Westchester

Several times this summer, I’ve heard a version of Lana del Rey’s Summertime Sadness in the most appropriate setting. Tonight, it was a remix playing over the scene of a suburban block party at sunset. It reminded me of a time last summer during my friend Kateri’s bachelorette party. We were in a Vegas club (as you do) and I was in the middle of putting my heels on to venture to the bathroom. A Lana song started playing and I immediately locked eyes with my long time friend and fellow Lana fan, Amanda. Needless to say, I didn’t put my shoes back on until the song was finished.

I’m not usually one to idolize famous people too much, but I truly find myself feeling grateful to live in a time when I can fully appreciate Lana’s music and share it with people I love. I hope very much that the rumors of her touring after releasing her next album are true.
